Police Deny Rumours of Abductions by Boko Haram in Edo State

Edo State police have on Thursday debunked the rumours of the Boko Haram terrorist sect invading the state schools and kidnapping students.

There was confusion today as students, who were not informed about Nigeria Union of Teachers’ closure of schools, found their respective educational establishments empty.

According to The Nation, some students alerted their parents, alleging another Boko Haram attack.

Edo State Police Command have, in their official statement to the press, maintained the rumous were not true and there were no insurgents in the state whatsoever. Members of public were adviced to remain calm and warned against spreading false news.

It would be recalled that Edo State teachers have joined their colleagues nation wide protest aimed at urging the Federal Government to ensure the safe release of the over 200 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by and still held in Boko Haram’s captivity.
